Like a zombie rising from the grave, Snack returns. I won’t go into the gory details, but let’s just say the idea for this business refuses to die.

Well, after much harrumphing and gnashing of teeth over the holidays, we’ve decided to go ahead and close up operations for Snack at the Farmers’ Market. It turns out the required hours, even when you’re selling on just the weekend, can be a huge strain on every other aspect of your life.

We are sure going to miss it. There’s nothing like making something from scratch one day, and selling it firsthand to friendly customers the next. If anyone out there is thinking of doing something similar, we would highly recommend it. Except for the part where you’re really tired all the time. ;^)

We are basically stopping all sales, so we’ll be closing down the order page of the site. The entire site will probably go dark sometime in the next week or so. (Update: We have since reversed this decision, and are now 110% focused on opening a shop somewhere in the West San Jose/Campbell area. We would also love to return to the Market, so keep your fingers crossed!)

A big THANK YOU to everyone who’s stopped by our booth over the last few months, and especially to all of you who have bought a cupcake or two from us. We’re going to miss you all a ton.

Almost sold out, but that’s okay, since we then had something to give to our booth friends on either side of us (Portugeuse Bakery and R&J Toffee).

We will be on vacation (along with the rest of the Market) until the 7th of January. Hopefully we can come up with some new recipes worthy of our loyal customers. Thanks for a great 2006 everyone! And here’s hoping we can get everything together in time to open a full-fledged storefront in 2007.

The Burnt Almond alone is a reason to come by!

We toughed out the rain with the hardcore shoppers today, and were rewarded with our second sell out. Nice. We did cut our stock a bit in anticipation of slim crowds, but it wasn’t too bad. More proof that Campbell has a solid, vibrant market. If you haven’t been, you should really check it out.

Be advised, the market is only open one more weekend this year (Sunday the 17th). So if you need to pick up something in person, that would be the time. But don’t forget, you can always special order. Freshly baked cupcakes are a perfect treat for a company or family holiday event. From 1 dozen, to dozens of dozens. We love to bake, and local delivery is free!

Unfortunately, due to the closing of the Campbell Farmers’ Market on Christmas and New Year’s Eve, we will not be selling the Sundays of December 24th and 31st.

However, we will be taking special orders for delivery on and around those days. Just hit our order page to find out how.

That’s right, we sold out the entire stock on Sunday. That rate is right! We seem to finally be hitting our stride, both in the baking back end, and the market front. Now if we can only hold on through the winter.

I just found this amazing archive of Hostess snack food ads featuring Marvel and DC superheroes of the 1970s. An interesting foreshadowing of the comic book/snack cake fusion we intend to unleash soon.
